THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED

Dubai is a growing tourist market with many of its residents having high disposable incomes. Like in many other markets, we are increasingly seeing demand from high-end tourists shifting away from opulence and grandeur towards experiential holidays. This, combined with Norway’s natural beauty, unique cultural experiences and cooler climate, makes Norway and interesting holiday destination.

In cooperation with Emirates airline, Visit Norway arranges a workshop for Norwegian partners giving them an opportunity to meet over 60 tour operators and agents from the region. The workshop is not a traditional workshop with prearranged meetings, but one in which the buyers move along tables and networking takes place over lunch. To ensure partner get the most out of this event, Visit Norway will a combine the workshop with a competence day.

This is a very cost-efficient way of reaching new and maintaining relations with buyers within this market and we have place the workshop earlier in the year to capture the business related to both Eid and the summer holidays.

Main purpose of the activity

  • Generate sales for the Norwegian travel trade industry
  • Competence building for the Norwegian travel trade industry
  • Competence building for the local travel trade industry

Type of participants – providers

This is suitable for companies that are new to the UAE market or want to expand their current network. It is important that they work in the high-end segment/ upper end of mainstream and that can facilitate the requirements of the middle-eastern tourist.

For this activity, we would like to strongly encourage these types of companies:

  • Activity companies
  • Hotel chains
  • Independent hotels
  • Other type of accommodation
  • Incoming operator – regional
  • Incoming operator – national

Type of products & seasons

This activity will have a strong focus on the following type(s) of products. We encourage providers that have corresponding products to attend:

  • Can promote sustainable travel / slow travel / electrical travel
  • Offer outdoor soft activities
  • Can promote activities / products on showcasing the Norwegian cultural heritage
  • Have focus on local food / Norwegian food treasure
  • Have focus on Sami culture

Seasons

  • All seasons

The residents travel all year round, but are particularly keen to avoid the hot summer months in their own country. Having said that, Norther lights, snow and winter activities are seen as very exotic, as is the Norwegian culture and gastronomy.

Type of participants – buyers

The buyer will serve different segment, but they will all facilitate high-end travelers and many will focus only on this segment, so it is important that Norwegian partners that attend can service this sector.
